Out of Africa is a non-profit organization passionate about educating all people of all ages about the genesis of human history from an African lens. We particularly advocate for the academic, mental wellness and social emotional learning of African children and their history in an educational setting. We believe that by connecting children of African ancestry to their ancient past, it will foster a positive and powerful sense of identity, self-awareness and self-worth
Out of Africa’s primary objectives are to uplift, empower and enlighten Black youth through our powerful African storytelling series. We achieve this through a variety of methods, namely by partnering with local community organizations such as religious and academic institutions, as well as public libraries and other advocacy groups. We produce exciting and dynamic settings to recreate ancient scenes from periods of great Black wealth, rulership and autonomy. Through a variety of props, and materials offered, children become hands-on learners as well as participants, creating a rich, vibrant atmosphere. The goal is to connect the child to the material, planting seeds of confidence setting them on a trajectory of success, high academic, professional and personal achievement.
Africa is the cradle of humankind – and the cradle of civilization. We believe that teaching world history and its genesis in Africa and its contributions from antiquity to modern times, would instill a positive message in Black youth struggling to find their identity and understand their true worth. We hope that by educating Black youth from a place of strength and esteem, it would propel them to continue seeking knowledge and grow in wisdom and understanding in an ever increasingly complex and complicated world.
